Wimshurst Machine

I’ve never heard of a Wimshurst machine before, but apparently it was pretty popular among the electrostatic crowd from the late 1800′s till 1930-ish. My inner DIY-er wants to make one of these, but something tells me that I’d Best Buy a kit and save my record collection from an untimely demise. File this one under: things I didn’t know existed and I don’t know why I want. Serioulsy… if I owned one it would collect dust.. I mean, it’s not exactly an xbox.
