Virtual Panhandling

I’ve noticed a new trend (scam?) popping up all over the internet- It’s called “Cash Gifting”, and it appears to be a variation of the home processor scam where you supposedly get paid to type, write emails, fill out forms, etc. , which in turn is a variation of the classic envelope stuffing scam. I couldn’t find a Wikipedia entry on this “trend”, so I linked to an old article that I wrote about the home typing scam.
Basically, with cash gifting, people are using youtube to beg for money. Worse yet, people are asking for a lot of money in order to tell you how to post a video of yourself begging for money on youtube. Usually, people are asking for five hundred dollars! Holy crap, that’s a lot of dough. And since it’s supposed to be a gift, you probably have no legal ground to stand on when it comes to getting your money back.
