Smart Cruise Control

Daimler Trucks North America has developed a “Predictive Cruise Control (PCC)” system that saves gas by using vehicle momentum in your favor. MY first thought was that this cruise control would actually add safety or hands-free steering, but that simply isn’t the case. This cruise control system analyzes map and satellite-based previews and then suggests an optimal route one mile ahead while adjusting the engine output for slopes. Meanwhile, truck drivers are still expected to stay alert via any means possible- weight loss pills , white crosses, red bull, or all of the above. If these guys wanted to sleep on the job, they should have become train conductors.
