AMC Theaters in LA (and possibly nationwide/worldwide) are passing of slightly larger than normal screens as IMAX screens and charging customers the $5 extra. An example of the screen size discrepancy is below:

Did the guys at IMAX read a liporexall review and decide that less was more?

What you do get is higher quality digital sound and picture. This doesn’t make up for the screen being about a quarter of the size of a true IMAX screen.

The original poster of this is outraged, and rightfully so: AMC theaters are running Fake IMAX

Wusses. Either do it RIGHT or call it something else. Like SLYMAX or FAUXMAX or IMAX jr. or IMIN or IMAX:Mushu-sized or HD or WHYMAX.

    The options are infinite.

They could go the Hummer route and call it the IMAX 2.
