Let’s face it: The XBOX 360 isn’t an easy console to extract from your living room. It has big, tight-fitting cables and a honkin power supply. Also, it isn’t the most svelt console we’ve seen this decade. Sure, there’s a new model coming out that shrinks the console like a dose of detoxufree72 , but I don’t see myself buying a new console any time soon. Unless Microsoft decided to stop fixing RRODs for free, in which I may never buy another XBOX.
So the Gaming and Entertainment Mobile Systems (GAEMS) suitcase costs as much as an xbox ($250).. and it has a high def 720p LCD screen. It looks like the power supply is tucked away behind the LCD screen. There’s no room for controllers, and GAEMS is talking about providing a bag for those.

I found the awesomest tower defense game called Cursed Treasure. You have to stop the baddies from grabbing your jewels. This means that you get two chances to annihilate them- once on their way to the gems and once on the way back (if they make it that far). This game saves your progress and allows you to upgrade your towers and other stats… which is enough to keep me coming back like a stubborn case of eczema . I’ve pretty much beat the game at this point, so if anything, I might say that the game is a touch too easy, but I have been at it for about a week now, and I’m pretty good at tower defense games. So what are you waiting for? Play it now!
I’ve been in an intense gaming slump lately- you see, the hard drive on my xbox crashed, leaving me unable to go online or save game progress. To add insult to injury, I keep running in to great video game deals. I just found Oblivion (game of the year edition) for $15, COD: MW2 for $20 (my disc cracked, I blame the packaging) and this weekend, I picked Prototype for $20 as well. That last one was on clearance at Target in case you wanted to try your luck.
Not having a hard drive means that I’m stuck playing through the first few hours of a game over and over. Yesterday, I played Prototype for the first time, and I sat there for what seemed like three hours.
The first thing I’d like to say is that this game is FUN. Also, I’d like to say that it’s not a GTA clone… though it does remind me a little bit of Crackdown. You are a guy who is the “victim” of a military experiment. And when I say victim, I mean that you now have the ability to run up the sides of buildings, hurl cars, fly (kinda), turn your arms into weapons and so on. You’re basically some sort of super-being. You can thank the U.S. Army for this, and then begin to wonder whether your life insurance rates just bottomed out because you just became a lot harder to kill, or if they are going to skyrocket because both the Army and some crazy mutants want you dead.
The one thing I did notice in the few hours I spent with this game- repetition. While I was continually buying upgrades for my super powers, the missions all seemed to revolve around stealing someone’s identity and gaining access to a building, driving somewhere, or destroying a person, place or thing. Oh yeah, and there were some side missions where you had to chase checkpoints. Kind of like a race.
All in all, I conclude that this game is well worth the twenty bucks. I haven’t played it enough to say if it’s worth the thirty dollars that it goes for on ebay, but personally I would hold out for a bargain just to be safe.
Some of you old codgers might remember a tiny startup called ATARI. They have launched a shiny new site with a handful of absolutely free arcade classics and atari 2600 titles. What really blows my mind is that I had to link-hop three times to find an actual link to the Atari website. I’m pretty sure that this kind of stinginess is bad for your health, and if there was a way for doctors to check for it, then life insurance rates would shoot through the roof for these guys… I’m not going to name name, but shame on you for not linking to Atari while waxing poetic about how excited you are to be playing their games for free on their site.
Can I get a What-What for Kotaku, who actually linked back to the Atari website.
Here’s a little bit of awesome: stop motion re-enactments of classic arcade games using LEGO blocks. The shape of LEGOS lend themselves perfectly to the pixelated images of old school arcade games. These recreations are so good that I think I just 1up’D in my pants a little.
On a side note, I’d like to know what kind of diet supplement pac-man is taking, because he can gobble pellets all day long and he never gains a pixel. Also, with all of the different versions of pac-man out there, I’d like to know why there was never a game that featured both ms pac man and pac man in the same game? Someone needs to whip up a co-operative game with these two as a team.
It seems that most Wii accessories are just silly add-ons for your wiimote, and they don’t look like they would help you play better or enhance the games in any way. Despite the tons of crazy-bad reviews that I’ve seen for this particular accessory, I’d like to think that it could actually help you play wii bowling better. Now if only you could roll it along the floor when you played.
