USB Heated Gloves Make Icy Fingers Melt

Budget Gadgets sent me these USB heated gloves to review. Sadly, it isn’t very cold in Arizona right now, but I had icy fingers when I ordered them. To be fair, I tested these gloves out on a cool morning. The gloves fit snugly and they have a small heating strip in the palm of the gloves. They also have a flap that covers your fingertips (pictured below).

Functionality: the heating element gets up to temperature pretty quickly, but doesn’t get very hot (one might say that this is a good thing). The gloves definitely kept the larger part of my hands warm, though my fingertips were still a bit chilly. The flaps that cover your fingers aren’t likely to get a lot of use, as doing stuff with stumps is fairly hard. It does work for mousing to some extent. One of the buttons that hold the flaps back already fell off of my gloves, but gravity seems to do a pretty good job of holding it in place. The gloves are not too restrictive, and typing with them on isn’t a problem.

Comfort: The gloves themselves are made of a wool-like fabric that is comfortable and warming by itself. The heating element does provide some heat. It’s probably a lot more effective when you’re actually cold. On the plus side, it isn’t too warm, so you won’t be uncomfortably hot (or burned). The gloves fit me snugly, and I had a little difficulty getting them off.

So in the end, what you have is a pair of gloves that do what they’re supposed to do- they plug into a USB slot and heat up your hands. They’re fingerless and typing/mousing isn’t restricted. Also, I can put the finger flap down and say “Da Craw! Da Craw!” which is always a plus. The only downside I can see is that you may need to sew the buttons back on these gloves, like right away, as one of my buttons fell off on the first use.

These heated gloves sell for $7.90 (free shipping) at Budget Gadgets. You can use the coupon code PM5OFF2 to get 5% off your order.
