Awwww.. Noone can blog quite like I can,
Writing posts about Segway and GM.
Alright, GM and Segway have joined forces and upgraded the famous and much maligned dorkmobile. This coalition is being called the Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility Project, or PUMA. You could call it awkward 2.0, or if you wanted to name it like a movie sequel, we could call it Segway II: Geeks In Cages.
This incarnation is both less strange looking and much more useful. Plus, it has a rollcage. (Anti- wedgie bonus!) Not only does it reach a much higher top speed (a very useful for running away from bullies 35 MPH), but it also has a better range- 35 miles. So basically, you can drive at top speed for an hour on a single charge of the lithium batteries.
Sadly, if you want to have a demolition derby in these things, you’re going to have to disable the internal communications device that prevents it from colliding with other PUMAs. Why is it that safety features always take the fun out of things?

Leave it to Japan to come up with a USB powered cigarette that doesn’t actually contain tobacco. Supposedly it produces some sort of smoke, but most likely the aromatherapeutic kind that any Mesothelioma lawyer worth his salt would despise. The product page is completely useless as well:
How is the Ministry of aerosol charging is complete in itself and very easy to set the cartridge. The only draw suction from the mouth, the pump mechanism of the weak solution mist through the mouth and draw air sensors automatically. Nicotine, tar will not be detrimental to health that are not recommended to go to when I quit smoking.
Oh yeah, thanks for clearing that up for me! Sheesh. I think I’ll pass on your new-age electronic smoking device, thank-you-very-much.

Daimler Trucks North America has developed a “Predictive Cruise Control (PCC)” system that saves gas by using vehicle momentum in your favor. MY first thought was that this cruise control would actually add safety or hands-free steering, but that simply isn’t the case. This cruise control system analyzes map and satellite-based previews and then suggests an optimal route one mile ahead while adjusting the engine output for slopes. Meanwhile, truck drivers are still expected to stay alert via any means possible- weight loss pills , white crosses, red bull, or all of the above. If these guys wanted to sleep on the job, they should have become train conductors.

This tower may seem like something out of a zany sci-fi movie, but the Trump International Hotel is actually being built, and should be completed by 2009. Only in Dubai. Leave it to Donald Trump to fit right in with the crazy Dubai construction!
