Knife Shirt: Not As Cool As It Sounds

When I first heard about the Nihon Uni Knife Shirt, I thought that it would be some sort of cool punk rocker thing… you know, the natural progression from wearing spiked belts and bracelets would be wearing pointy-knifed, bladed shirts. Perfect for telling the world to stay the F away from you without saying a word.

Alas, this is not the case- the Knife Shirt not only lacks sharp protrusions, it seems that it hardly protects people from knife attacks. Sure, you will be able to withstand some light slashing, but stabs are still fatal. This shirt ‘protects’ the wearer because the thread is made from polyethylene, and is three times as strong as cotton. Considering the $200-$500 price range of these shirts, chain mail is probably a more cost effective option. It looks much cooler, too.
